The National Ski Academy is a leader in the development of high-performance ski racing programs in Canada. The NSA understands that technical, tactical, physical and mental skills are necessary to achieve excellence. Our professional staff is carefully chosen from around the world, based on their skills and experience in coaching and athletic training. These experienced coaches work with a small athlete-to-coach ratio to ensure that the needs of the athletes are met.
The ski program consists of pre-season training camps in Europe and Canada which focus on preparing the athletes for competition. In season, the athletes train on snow on a daily basis when not in competition or traveling. The NSA uses the latest technology to provide the best possible environment. Competitions range from regional to national and international races.
THE PHYSICAL PROGRAM
The NSA coaches develop and implement a specific annual training plan for each athlete which is supervised by the coaches on a daily basis. In addition to this professional training, the students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of sports in order to develop a healthy lifestyle.
THE PSYCHOLOGICAL PROGRAM - Dr. Dana Sinclair - Partner & Registered Psychologist - Human Performance International www.humanperformance.ca
The goal of the NSA is to identify the psychological strengths and weaknesses of the athletes and to work with them to improve their mental skills. The professional staff works with the athletes to empower them to take responsibility and to learn organizational and time management skills. The athletes are encouraged to set goals and to evaluate their results. They learn to focus and to develop concentration control. As well, they learn how to maintain a positive mental attitude.
The successes experienced by National Ski Academy athletes is proof beyond a doubt that the athletic program is second to none in its endeavour to develop athletes for the National Ski Team and for international competition.
