Welcome from NSA Director Jurg Gfeller
March 2010
Thank you for your interest in the National Ski Academy and our 2010-2011 ski racing and academic programs.
We have a 24 year record of delivering ski racing and academic programs that enable young people to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals.
For the 2010-2011 academic year we are pleased to introduce K2 and FIS Regional programs targeted to ski racers remaining at their “home” school and placing less emphasis upon pre-season on-snow training days. Same great NSA on-snow program training … just less of it without academic courses!
In addition, the NSA will be introducing a K2 Midweek Support Program with academic support, room and board, and shuttle service from Toronto and to the local ski clubs. This new support program is targeted to K2 racers in a Wednesday to Friday home club program needing accommodation, fitness training and study hall supervision at the NSA.
We know we deliver on our commitment to be the “Home of Ski Racing and Academic Excellence”:
- NSA students graduated with a combined 84% average over the past 5 years
- Current NSA student athletes have received early admissions to leading Canadian universities
- Seven NSA alumni have “graduated” to the Canadian Alpine Ski Team including current World Cup racers Larisa Yurkiw and Tyler Nella
- An NSA alumni has graduated to the National Ski Cross Team
- Three NSA alumni qualified for the Canadian team at the Vancouver Olympics
We know that deciding upon a program that supports the often competing objectives of athletics and academics is a major decision for every family.
If we can provide further assistance related to your program choice for 2010 - 2011, we would be happy to meet with you. We look forward to providing solutions that meet your family’s unique academic and ski racing needs.
