Message from the Board of Directors and Head of School
The Board of Directors collaborated on the decision to close the National Ski Academy as of March 14, 2020. The decision to close is in keeping with other independent schools, as well as publicly funded schools in Ontario. This social distancing supported other initiatives to flatten the curve of the spread of COVID-19 infection. Our top priority is still keeping our community safe and healthy.
The Board and leadership team at the NSA continue to stay informed with respect to COVID-19 updates and directives from federal and local officials, as well as medical experts. We will continue to follow their guidance as we prepare for the 2020-21 academic year, training and competition season. Please understand that this set of circumstances is unprecedented, and we are in a very dynamic situation with major changes occurring by the hour. Currently our Return to School COVID-19 Protocols are being put into place and will be ready for when we can welcome the student athletes and staff back.
Remote learning for Quad 4 classes were a great success with teachers working with their students online by video and through Google Classroom. Our fitness coaches continue to work with new and returning athletes on their summer dry land programs and our U16 and FIS coaches are checking in with their athletes regularly. Preparations for Quad 1 are well underway and while we are unable to travel to our Saas-Fee training camp, Quad 1 classes will begin online August 17th and we hope both boarding and day students will return to the Academy for regular classes after Labour Day. Our athletic staff is working on a plan to get everyone on snow either in Europe or Canada by the end of October and we will post that information as soon as it is confirmed.
Our online Graduation was a great success with all our families, alumni and community members logging on to watch the presentation of academic and athletic awards, a special message from Canadian Alpine Ski Team member, Roni Remme (’13) and to celebrate the Class of 2020 who were piped in by our very own math teacher, Mr Raaflaub.

We thank everyone in the NSA community for pulling together to support our student athletes during these challenging times, we are all in this together. Your patience, cooperation and encouragement are deeply appreciated.
